Darrell Fritz is a friendly, helpful person visitors and locals alike meet at the BC Ferries terminal in Bella Coola.

Fritz was living in Williams Lake, but moved to Bella Coola 30 years ago to work for Hodgson Freightways.

He said he would try the job for a year and has been in Bella Coola ever since.

Today he unties the ferry, operates the ramp, and then when the boat comes back he ties them up and helps them load.

“They are an awesome bunch of people to work for,” he said.

Editor’s note: If you have a friendly person in mind that you think we should share in Coast Mountain News on the editorial page, please send a photo or suggestion along with a short description.
