The first ever Ride Your Ride Ladies Mountain Bike Fest will be taking place May 10, 11, and 12 in Williams Lake.
The three-day festival will be an “exclusively inclusive” weekend of riding, empowerment and celebrating ladies bike culture in the Cariboo, according to the event page.
Small group bike workshops based on riding ability, social events, live music and food will all be part of the festival, which opened for general registration on the weekend.
With the aim of providing an inclusive and supportive environment, the bike fest idea sparked from a conversation between two women on a ladies mountain bike trip.
Beth Holden and Dena Baumann wanted to provide an opportunity to connect women who mountain bike or want to try the sport in a safe, supportive environment to help build confidence, skills and community.
The event is being supported by the Williams Lake Cycling Club and is aimed at women 16 years old and up. In order to make the event accessible to anyone, it is being offered at a sliding cost scale as well. Within days of opening up registration the festival has reportedly nearly sold out.
