RCMP are looking for information about a blue Dodge Dart, similar to the one pictured, seen around Logan Lake between Sept. 22 and 23.

The BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit (SED MCU) and the Tk’emlups Rural Detachment of the Kamloops RCMP are working together to investigate the discovery of a body in rural Kamloops.

On Sept. 23, Kamloops RCMP received a report about a missing man, and began an investigation into his whereabouts. During the course of the investigation, a body was located, and the SED MCU was called in to take charge of the investigation.

Also on Sept. 23, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Logan Lake RCMP received a report of a vehicle on fire in the area of Tunkwa Lake Road and Highway 97D in Logan Lake. It has now been determined that the vehicle fire is related to the body that was found.

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in providing any information, or video such as dash-cam footage, in regards to a blue Dodge Dart that was seen in the Logan Lake area prior to the vehicle fire.

“Determining the manner and cause of death is the top priority for investigators at this time,” says S/Sgt. Jason Smart, NCO in charge of the SED MCU. “Information surrounding the vehicle fire will assist investigators in that regard.”

In an effort to protect the integrity of the investigation, police will not be releasing further information about the found body and/or the subsequent SED MCU investigation.

Anyone who may have seen, or has video of, the blue Dodge Dart at any time from Sunday, Sept. 22 through 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23 is asked to call the BC RCMP SED MCU information line at 1-877-987-8477. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
