An area of B.C.'s Central Coast is forecast to get high winds gusting 90 to 120 km/h.

Bring in the patio furniture, fall is going to hit B.C.'s Central Coast hard Thursday, Sept. 26, according to Environment Canada.

At 4:19 p.m., a weather alert was issued for exposed coastal sections of North Vancouver Island, the Central Coast and Haida Gwaii.

The remnants of Typhoon Pulasan will reach B.C.'s coast, bringing along winds which may cause damage, said the warning.

Winds are forecast to reach 90 km/h gusting up to 120 km/h late in the day on Thursday on the Central Coast.

Some strong winds will reach inland sections of the Central Coast as well, with strong westerly winds and very strong wind gusts. Moist soils and strong winds could also result in fallen trees and branches in these inland sections.

"A deep low pressure system will cross the B.C. offshore waters on Thursday, reaching the coast overnight and then proceeding to track inland during the day on Friday. Very strong, gusty southeasterly winds will develop on Thursday afternoon and continue into the evening. To the south of the low, from about midnight Thursday to early Friday, there will also be a period of intense westerly winds," states the alert.

The winds will ease through the day on Friday as the system moves away from the coastal region.

Tents, soft shelters, awnings and outdoor events will be at risk due to the high winds and power outages may result.

Environment Canada recommends securing outdoor items, ensuring marine vessels are well moored as well as warning motorists in high profile vehicles of potentially hazardous driving conditions on roadways subject to strong cross winds.
