The 100 Mile House RCMP responded to several alleged incidents of theft as part of the 84 calls to service they received between April 9 to April 16.
On April 10, two incidents of theft occurred, according to Sgt. Brian Lamb. Lamb said the first incident occurred “from a business located on the 90 block of Highway 97” where a male entered, paid for an item and left with an “unpaid item”. After surveillance was viewed the item was “found to be concealed in his jacket.”
The other incident occurred at the 5500 block of Park Drive, Lamb said. There, the RCMP received a report of an abandoned RV trailer at that address.
Lamb said the RCMP contacted the owner, who had allegedly told them that the RV “had been stolen from the 70 Mile area in the fall but did not report it to Police.” The RCMP say police observed a white truck towing the trailer going at high speeds around the Helena Lake Forest Service Road and then later on Spring Lake Road. Lamb remarked the RV has not been recovered and described it as a white 2004 Okanagan brand RV trailer in “poor condition.”
The next day, at 12:55 p.m. on April 11, 2024, Lamb said the RCMP received a report of an abandoned vehicle on the 5000 block of Gold Road. RCMP attended and located a white 2002 Ford F350 with no plates attached and discovered the vehicle “was reported as being stolen from Kamloops in late March.”
RCMP believes that it is the same vehicle “that was towing the RV trailer the day previous.” The RCMP took the vehicle for forensic examination and said the vehicle was reportedly parked on Gold Road for two hours before the Police allegedly arrived.
Later that same day, Lamb said RCMP received a report of a stolen u-built car deck trailer from a residence on the 5600 block of Highway 24. Lamb says the trailer was removed from the property. It is described as “30 feet in length, black in colour with red trim with a wood deck” and has no licence plates.
Saturday, April 13 also saw another alleged theft involving a u-built trailer. Lamb said the RCMP received a report of a theft from a residential property on the 6300 block of Highway 24 - with the trailer containing the BC licence plate WLL23V as well as “tires and rims, a fishing boat with an electric motor, kayak, generators, lawn mower, chainsaw, coolers, portable solar panel and numerous hand tools” all being taken.
It is believed the incident took place between 12 a.m. and 1:50 a.m. - and RCMP said that surveillance footage obtained of the suspect vehicle identifies it as a white Chevrolet pickup with running boards and a black rhino guard on the bottom of the vehicle. Lamb said the RCMP could not obtain a plate of the vehicle involved and that there is no description of a suspect.
The last theft alleged to have occurred according to the RCMP was reported on April 15 and occurred the day before. A vehicle was stolen from the 1100 block of Exeter McKinley Road. The vehicle window was allegedly smashed in and entered, leading to a “dashcam, Milwaukee 12 volt vacuum and shotgun” all being taken. Lamb said the RCMP believe the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m.

Other alleged incidents included a report of a vehicle failing to stop for a school bus. On April 12, Lamb says the RCMP received a report from School District 27 where a vehicle had failed to stop for a school bus with red flashing lights near McKinley Road and Highway 97. The RCMP reviewed video footage where Lamb said it “clearly showed the vehicle did not stop as required” and will be ticketing the driver.
Breaking and entering also occurred on April 13 at a “business on the 300 block of Moore Avenue” according to Lamb. The RCMP said that surveillance footage had been captured of a person of interest in the area at 10:11 a.m. with police notified the individual was allegedly on Exeter Station Road. The RCMP say they located the person and identified him, but had “insufficient evidence to proceed further” and they do not know if anything was taken.
Finally, on April 15, multiple reports of a vehicle that had gone off the road were received by the RCMP, according to Lamb. The incident is said to have occurred on Highway 24 near Falcon Road - and they say that EHS and local fire departments were on the scene to rescue the only person trapped inside.
Lamb said that the male driver was extracted from the vehicle who “displayed symptoms of alcohol consumption.” The man had a breath demand issued to him and the man had allegedly tried to provide a sample, but refused. Lamb said that the driver had no apparent injuries and officers subsequently impounded his vehicle for 30 days and issued a 90-day driving prohibition.
