Yunesit'in First Nation Chief Lennon Solomon flew over the Chilcotin River landslide area on Aug. 1 with other Tsilhqot'in National Government leaders to see the area with his own eyes.

"Tsilhqot'in means people of the river," he told Black Press Media Friday. "This river is our lifeline to the whole Tsilhqot'in Nation. The Tsilhqot'in Nation has been its caretaker for generations and will continue to be for generations to come."

He provided Black Press Media with some of his video footage.

On Thursday afternoon the Tsilqhot'in National Government hosted a ceremony regarding the landslide. Around 250 people gathered at the first lookout on the Farwell Canyon Road.

Ken Ilnicki of Ilnicki Ranch where the slide is located, said Friday morning the river is still completely blocked.
