An arrest turned violent on Friday, Sept. 13 as 100 Mile House RCMP arrested a man for trespassing on Horse Lake Road.
Sgt. Brian Lamb said the incident was one of 116 calls to service the RCMP responded to from Sept. 9 to Sept. 17. Lamb said the incident occurred after RCMP reports of a male trying to gain entry to a residence on the 5000 block of Horse Lake Road.
Upon arrival, officers learned the man had been chased away from the property and subsequently conducted patrols of the area. The officers found the man hiding in a ditch along Horse Lake Road.
When officers arrested him Lamb said the man resisted arrest and assaulted one of the arresting officers. The man was successfully taken into custody, and Lamb said officers will be recommending the suspect be charged with Trespass at Night, Resisting Arrest and Assault on a Peace Officer at a later date.
Motorcycles strike deer
Two separate reports of motorcycles hitting deer were received by the RCMP last week, one on Sept. 13 and one on Sept.14.
The first incident was of a collision on the 8000 block of Highway 24 - where after RCMP attended with Emergency Health Services (EHS) where they learned that a motorbike had struck a deer causing it to crash. RCMP say the single occupant of the motorcycle was taken to hospital for what they believe to be minor injuries.
The next day RCMP received reports of a collision on Highway 97 near 108 Mile Ranch. RCMP attended with EHS and the 108 Mile Volunteer Fire Department already on scene. Lamb explained RCMP determined that "a motorcycle had struck a deer causing the motorcycle to go off-road into the ditch". The lone occupant of the motorcycle said he did not have any injuries.
Theft
Two reports of theft were reported to the RCMP on Sept. 9. The first incident was of a theft of a trailer taken from a property on Inman Rd - where RCMP say in the news release that a "26-foot long flat deck dual axle ubuilt trailer was taken from the property." RCMP additionally say that a vehicle described as a white car had been observed one week prior to the report, but it is not known where it was taken - and additionally, that the trailer was unlicensed.
The second incident involved the alleged theft of building supplies from a property on Eagle Creek Road. Lamb said that items including insulation, metal flashing and metal panels were taken. It is believed the incident may have taken place over the weekend.
Breaking and Entering
A report of break and enter to a property on Cabin Road was made on Sept.11 by the RCMP. Sometime between Aug. 30 and Sept. 10, the residence had been entered, where food and alcohol was taken, as well as a tire off a truck parked on the property whose fuel was also taken.
Shooting
A report of an unoccupied tractor that had appeared to be shot at a rural property on Kaluza Road was received by the RCMP on Sept. 12. After attending, Lamb said officers determined the damage was consistent with a bullet striking the tractor: however, an approximate timeline remains unknown.
Mischief
A report of mischief was received by the RCMP on Sept.15 which had occurred to a vehicle on the 500 block of Cedar Avenue. RCMP say that a female wearing a green hoodie carrying a red bag was observed smashing the rear window of a vehicle which had been parked in a residential parking lot. RCMP say they attended and did not find the female.
