Williams Lake RCMP are hoping to locate Dean Alexander Hare, last heard from by family on Aug. 19, 2024.
RCMP said they received a report on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, the 55-year-old man was missing.
Hare is described as Indigenous, standing 5' 10" and weighing 130 pounds. He has short brown hair and brown eyes.
RCMP said his family reported to police that about six weeks ago Hare was in Abbotsford.
"When the family last saw him Dean said he was planning to go to Vancouver to see his daughters but neither daughter has seen him," noted RCMP in a news release. "Family did not know how Dean was going to get to Vancouver as he does not have a vehicle and usually gets around on a bicycle or hitchhikes."
In an interview two years ago in November, Hare talked about the need in Williams Lake for an overdose prevention site and said his own son had died from an overdose the previous summer.
At the time he said he often roamed the city at night distributing naloxone kits and safe supplies in areas where he knew drug users were hanging out.
Anyone with information about Hare's whereabouts is asked to call the RCMP at 250-392-6211.
