The 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a mail-box break-in as part of the 75 calls to service they received between Nov. 12 and Nov. 19.
The RCMP received a report on Nov. 14 from Canada Post that mailboxes on Horse Lake Road at Reita Crescent had been tampered with and broken into. RCMP suspect that mail was taken, and believe the incident occurred over the last number of days.
Stolen Vehicles
RCMP received three reports relating to stolen vehicles including a truck, motorcycle and vehicle respectively.
The first report came in on Nov. 16, when a U-Haul truck was reported on a property on the 6000 block of Little Green Lake Road. Sgt. Brian Lamb said officers attended and located a 2024 Chevrolet U-Haul van which had been reported to have been stolen from Kamloops. RCMP seized the vehicle from the property.
On Nov. 17, Lamb said a stolen motorcycle was taken from the residence on the 3900 block of Highway 97. A green 2021 Kawasaki KLS300 dirt bike was removed from a shed on the property - and RCMP believe the incident occurred overnight.
The third report came in on Nov. 18, which Lamb said was for an abandoned vehicle in the area of Timothy Lake Road after it was spotted from the air by a local pilot in a wooded area. RCMP attended with guidance from the complainant and located the vehicle - which the RCMP determined to be stolen from 100 Mile House approximately a month ago.
Mischief
On Nov. 16 mischief was reported to a vehicle parked on the 700 block of Exeter Station Road. Lamb said that somewhere between 6:30 p.m. the previous day and 9:30 a.m. on the day of the report, a passenger-side window was smashed.
Theft in progress
On Nov. 16 Lamb said RCMP responded to a report of a theft in progress from a property on Forest Ridge Road.
A two-toned older model Ford F150 was observed on a property where a lone male had been observed taking materials. Officers attended the area and found the truck, which had been speeding away on Horse Lake Road. The vehicle was later found at a residence on the 5900 block of Horse Lake Road, where Lamb said that building materials taken were found in the back of the truck. The truck has since been seized and impounded.
Lamb said an investigation of the property led to the recovery of a 2018 dump trailer which was taken from the Forest Ridge Road property on Nov. 2. The investigation is still ongoing.
Breach of probation
RCMP received a report on Nov. 18 of a male in possession of a firearm on the 500 block of Alder Avenue. RCMP officers attended and the male was located.
The RCMP arrested the male and determined he did not have a firearm, but rather a torch-style lighter. The RCMP found that the male had a warrant for breach of probation from Williams Lake and was taken into custody. He was then released to attend court at a later date.
Speeding
On Nov. 19, BC Highway Patrol was conducting a patrol on Highway 97 near 140 Mile House and found a vehicle going at a high rate of speed which radar confirmed was 150 km/h on a posted 100 km/h zone. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed. The vehicle was also impounded for seven days.
Vehicle defects
Also on Nov. 19, BC Highway Patrol conducted a vehicle stop on the 300 block of Highway 97 for a vehicle defect. The driver of the vehicle was later found to have an outstanding warrant for a breach of an undertaking.
The driver was arrested and was found to have committed an additional offence of breach of an undertaking. RCMP say that the male is being held pending a bail hearing.
Those with any information about these offences and others are asked to call the RCMP at 250-395-2456 or anonymously 24 hours a day at Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at bccrimestoppers.com.
