The 100 Mile House RCMP recovered a vehicle stolen from the Interlakes Canco parking lot on Wednesday, July 24.
In a post on their Facebook page, Canco wrote a man entered the store before stealing one of their employees' vehicles. The entire incident was captured on their surveillance system with Canco putting out a call for information.
Sgt. Brian Lamb said RCMP located the vehicle on July 26 abandoned at the Bridge Lake rodeo grounds. The male suspect who allegedly took the vehicle has been identified and the investigation is ongoing. Lamb said charges for theft over $5,000 are anticipated.
Speed enforcement
Earlier that week on Tuesday, July 23 BC Highway Patrol was conducting speed enforcement along Highway 97 near Yale Road. Lamb said a northbound vehicle was observed travelling at a speed of 181 km/h in a 110 km/h zone.
When stopped the male driver of the vehicle told RCMP he had just purchased the vehicle. He was issued a ticket for excessive speed and his vehicle was impounded for a week.
Abandoned vehicle recovered
A blue 2003 Ford F350 reported stolen from Osoyoos on July 22 was found abandoned on Highway 24 near Lac Des Roches on July 24. The vehicle has since been towed.
Vehicle goes off-road
Also on Wednesday, July 24, RCMP responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision on the 4000 block of Canim Hendrix Lake Road near Forest Grove. On arrival, Lamb said RCMP determined the vehicle had left the road and travelled through the two front yards and a fence before coming to rest.
"Police attended and determined there were no physical injuries to the driver or any occupants of the residences," Lamb said. "The driver was spoken with and impairment was ruled out as a factor. The driver was transported to hospital for a medical assessment."
ATV utility trailer stolen
RCMP received a report of an ATV utility trailer stolen from a property on Sellars Road on July 24. At some time over the last few months, the flat deck trailer with ramps was taken from the property. Its license plate is WKH 02H.
Window smashed
On July 26, 2024, RCMP received a report of mischief to a building on the 200 block of Horse Lake Road. Sometime between 4 p.m. the previous day and 8 a.m. on July 26, a window to the building was smashed. Entry was not made.
Single vehicle rollover
RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 97 near Maze Lake Road on July 27. Lamb said that when police arrived they found the driver of the vehicle was uninjured. The driver told them he had been travelling north when a black truck travelling south drove into the northbound lane.
"The driver had to drive into the ditch to avoid a collision. Witnesses also verified the incident and no further description of the black truck was provided," Lamb said.
This incident took place at 2 p.m.
Prohibited driver taken off road
RCMP received a report of a male driver drinking from an alcohol container on Cedar Avenue on Sunday, July 28. Lamb said officers located the vehicle and found the driver was prohibited from driving and subsequently arrested him.
"Observations of alcohol consumption were detected on the male and a breath demand for alcohol testing was issued. The male refused to provide a sample of his breath," Lamb stated.
The driver was given an immediate prohibition from driving for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. He was then released to attend court at a late date for prohibited driving.
Accident leads to vehicle fire
RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Monday, July 29 on Highway 97 near Hill Road.
On arrival, RCMP determined a pick-up truck towing an enclosed trailer and had gone off the road. No one was injured in the MVI. However, while officers were at the scene the trailer, which contained cleaning supplies and spray foam, caught on fire.
"100 Mile House Fire Rescue attended the scene to extinguish the fire," Lamb said. "Traffic flow in both directions was stopped until the fire was extinguished and determined safe."
Off-road vehicle collision
On July 29, 2024, RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle collision off-road on a power line access near Horse Lake Road. Police attended and located the vehicle.
Lamb said it was determined that the vehicle was negotiating a steep incline when the vehicle slid backwards into a tree. A passenger of the vehicle sustained injuries that were believed to be minor in nature and was taken to hospital by EHS as a precaution. The driver was not injured.
