Photos: Annual dog sled mail run kicks off at Troll Ski Resort

Mushers and dogs took to the trail at Troll to begin their mail delivery

Dogs and mushers began their run to deliver special letters to Barkerville in Central Interior B.C. on Friday, Feb. 7.

Envelope designs are chosen by photos or art and people could purchase one of the 1,500 Canada Post and the mail run team had printed. After being delivered to Barkerville on Sunday, letters will enter the regular mail system and be sent to 19 countries around the world.

Mushers had to be sworn in as honorary letter carriers before being handed a sack of envelopes and sent off on the 20km loop for the first day of the run.

They'll take part in the second round on Saturday near Wells and finish things off Sunday in Barkerville, where a select few shops including the bakery are planning to be open.
