Merry Christmas, happy holiday to everyone.
Compared to many parts of the world, those of us who live in the Cariboo are pretty well off. We have inconveniences like high prices and other miserable stuff to deal with, but nothing like war and natural disasters, so however we celebrate the season, let’s do it right. Some years ago, my youngest great-granddaughter just wanted hugs for presents. That’s a good start.
My hope is for all of us to be happy. If we can’t love each other, let’s at least like each other for one day. It might become a habit.

Most of us have a few special Christmas memories. Our youngest son believed in Santa for years after most of his friends didn’t –his four older brothers made sure he did. They said Christmas was no fun without a Believer. One year they hung little bells on the clothesline and brought a line into the house. When it was bedtime they got the bells tinkling and convinced him Santa was outside, waiting for him to go to bed. He did, in a hurry.
He eventually decided it was all fake. The brothers said “You don’t think mom and dad would buy YOU all those presents do you?” He thought it over and decided we wouldn’t — and believed for another year. The older boys were right on one thing. Christmas is more fun with a Believer around.

Being in the hospital, I thought I’d missed November, but maybe not. All I see out my window is leafless trees, brown grass, and grey skies, a few dabs of snow. It looks like dull drab November. Weather forecasters aren’t optimistic about snow here anytime soon, will we have a November-weather Christmas?
